Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Purpose

The primary purpose of the Sarco Therapist — Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is to provide Sarcotherapy to our patients in a manner consistent with the company’s values and policies, which are to provide an exceptional patient experience and creating a positive and uplifting environment for the team.

Reporting

The Sarco Therapist — PTA reports to and is accountable to, the Clinical. The Sarco Therapist PTA has no reports.

Responsibilities

  1. Create an exceptional patient experience.
  2. Consistently review all scheduled members’ charts and facilitate progress to ensure optimal outcomes are achieved in accordance with the research and our evidence-based protocols.
  3. Optimize patient retention and the success of the clinic by promoting our patients to graduate to our SarcoHealth program.
  4. Demonstrate a positive attitude at all times towards all visitors and team members.
  5. Effectively communicate our WHY.
  6. Provide outstanding Sarco-Screenings and ongoing education.
  7. Educate and guide our patients in a manner that is consistent with our protocols.
  8. Build genuine relationships with our members.
  9. Review and communicate standard sarcopenia measures with each member every 30 days.
  10. Handle phone calls and walk-in inquiries, as needed, in a consistent manner.
  11. Keep the clinic neat, clean and free of clutter.
  12. Monitor equipment function and immediately communicate any maintenance issues.
  13. Assist with opening and/or closing duties.
  14. Consistent communication with your patients, team and the leadership.
  15. Provide appropriately dosed treatment interventions according to evidence-based plans of care that promote movement, reduce pain, restore function, prevent disability, and directly combat sarcopenia.
  16. Actively apply the latest research to encourage healthier and more active lifestyles to restore and prevent loss of autonomy and independence specific to the patient’s identified lifestyle goals.
  17. Provide exceptional care and service to patients who have sarcopenia related functional problems as well as those that may be the result of injuries, musculoskeletal and/or neuromuscular diagnoses.
  18. Evaluate and treat movement dysfunction using appropriately coded interventions such as neuromuscular re-education, therapeutic exercise, functional training, manual therapy techniques, assistive and adaptive devices and equipment, and physical agents and electrotherapeutic modalities.
  19. Complete all daily notes, progress notes (within scope of practice), and documentation in a timely manner (48 hours or less).  Note, if additional time is required it must be discussed with your supervisor.
  20. Adhere to the APTA Guide for Professional Conduct.

  6. The ability to grow and maintain successful professional relationships
  7. Demonstrating proficiency in in our existing software applications
  8. Demonstrating excellent communication skills in both verbal and written form and effective listening
  9. Being detail oriented and be able to remain organized despite a busy schedule
  10. Possessing a good sense of humor
  11. Strong creativity and critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  12. Receiving and providing constructive criticism

Job Requirements

  1. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, lift, and stand for long periods.
  2. Ability to move heavy equipment and lift patients or help them turn, stand, or walk.
  3. Use interpersonal and communication skills in order to educate patients about their condition and physical therapy treatments and communicate with patients’ families.
  4. A high degree of compassion and empathy for the older adult population.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. State issued Physical Therapy Assistant Licensure
  2. Current CPR, AED and First Aid Certification
  3. Strong relational intelligence
  4. Extraordinary listening and communication skills
  5. A heart for working with seniors
